Naran in June is the start of the real season. The valley has been open since spring, the lake tracks are usually running, Babusar Top has normally just reopened, and the days are cool rather than hot. Nights are still close to freezing point in the upper valley, and the snow line is not far above the town, so June feels more like a mild spring than a summer month.

What is the weather like in Naran in June?
Climate averages for Naran, which sits at 2,409 metres, put the June daytime high at around 17°C and the night low at around 8°C. Those are averages for the town. In direct sun at midday it feels warmer, and after sunset or in rain it drops quickly, so you will want a fleece or jacket for evenings even on a clear day.
Higher up the valley is colder. Saif ul Malook is above 3,000 metres, and Lulusar and Batakundi sit between the two. Expect the wind at the lake to be cold in the morning, and expect snow patches on the slopes above the water in early June.
June is also the driest of the summer months on the averages, at about 48 mm, against roughly 100 mm or more in July and August. That is an average, not a guarantee. Afternoon showers are normal, and a week of steady rain is possible. Check the forecast before leaving the plains, and remember that the monsoon usually arrives in the days after June ends, so late June can already look like July. Are the jeep tracks open in June?
Usually, yes, but not on a fixed date. The road to Saif ul Malook is blocked by snow and glaciers through winter and has to be cleared by the Kaghan Development Authority (KDA) each spring. In late April 2026 several sections were still blocked, and the work was being done with heavy machinery with no reopening date announced. The pattern is that the track opens some time between late April and late May, and by June it is normally running.
The fare matters at this time of year, because June is busy. The Assistant Commissioner's office in Balakot notified fares for Naran Bazaar in 2026, including Rs 5,500 for a jeep from Naran to Saif ul Malook and Rs 4,500 from Naran to Lalazar. Two cautions. Snow can still block a section after a cold night or heavy rain, and drivers will turn back if the track is unsafe. And on a June weekend expect a queue for jeeps from mid-morning, so start early.
Is Babusar Top open in June?
It has been in recent years. In 2025 the road reopened on 23 May after a seven-month closure, and in 2026 it reopened on 25 May, after the National Highway Authority cleared the glaciers. In both years the reopening fell before June, so June travellers could go over.

How crowded is Naran in June?
Busy, and busier on weekends and around school holidays. The summer break sends families from the plains north from June, when Lahore, Multan and Karachi are at their hottest. Weekends and public holidays are the pressure points, with long queues for jeeps, full hotels and slow traffic on the Balakot to Naran stretch.
Weekdays are noticeably easier. If you can travel Tuesday to Thursday, you will get rooms with more choice and shorter jeep queues.
Early June against late June
The month is not uniform. Early June is closer to May: more snow on the high ground, colder mornings at the lakes, and a chance that a track or the pass has only just opened. Late June is greener, warmer and busier, and has the first real chance of monsoon cloud. If you have a choice, the middle two weeks give the best balance of open roads and settled weather.
What to book and how far ahead

It does not suit anyone who wants an empty valley, or a guaranteed early-June crossing of Babusar. If you want fewer people, go in May or September.
