Lahore in Ramadan is quieter in the day and busy from iftar until well after midnight. In 2026 the month began on 19 February, and in Lahore iftar was around 5:54 pm on the first day and 6:15 pm on the last. Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around 8 or 9 February, depending on moon sighting, so it will again fall in cool winter weather.

If you are visiting, the trade-off is simple: daytime sightseeing is easier without crowds, but many places open late and eating out in the day is difficult. This guide covers timings, where to break your fast, and what to plan around.

When is Ramadan and what are the timings?

Ramadan moves about ten to eleven days earlier each year. In 2026, ProPakistani reported it began on 19 February in Lahore with sehri ending at 5:18 am and iftar at 5:54 pm, and on day 30 sehri at 4:45 am and iftar at 6:15 pm. Timings shift by a minute or so each day and differ slightly between calendars, so use a current local timetable or the mosque announcement for the exact minute.

For 2027, published calendars expect the first fast around 8 February, with Eid al-Fitr about 10 March. Pakistan's moon-sighting committee makes the decision the evening before, and Pakistan sometimes starts a day later than other countries. Do not book non-refundable travel on the assumption of one exact day.

Is Ramadan a good time to visit Lahore?

Winter Ramadans, like 2026 and 2027, are among the more comfortable. The weather is mild, the food culture is at its strongest, and the evening atmosphere is memorable. Our Lahore weather by month shows what February and March feel like.

The downsides are practical:

  • Daytime is slow. Many shops open late. One shopkeeper in Kashmiri Bazaar told Arab News that in 2026 he opened at noon for the first days, and later at 11 am, staying till midnight.
  • Eating and drinking in public is frowned on and in Pakistan is restricted by law during fasting hours, so many restaurants close or screen off their seating in the day. If you are not fasting, eat at your hotel or a place that is clearly open, and be discreet.
  • Traffic peaks just before iftar, when everyone heads home at once.

Where to break your fast in Lahore

In the old city

Fort Road Food Street sits between Fort Road and the Hazuri Bagh gate, with views of the Badshahi Mosque. Wikipedia records that it opened in January 2012 as a replacement for the earlier Gawalmandi food street. General listings give its hours as 6 pm to 12:15 am, though Ramadan hours can differ. Haveli Restaurant, on the street opposite the mosque, was listed at about PKR 3,000 to 3,500 per person for Ramadan 2026 by Techjuice; treat that as a guide, since menus and prices change.

The lanes around Bhati Gate and Gawalmandi are known across the city for food, and are crowded after iftar. Our guide to the best food streets in Lahore and famous food of Lahore cover what to order.

Restaurants with iftar deals

Techjuice's 2026 list of iftar deals named restaurants in Gulberg and nearby, such as The Carnival on MM Alam Road, Lal Qila on Main Boulevard Garden Town, Spice Bazaar on Tipu Road and Ziafat on College Road, at roughly PKR 2,000 to 3,500 per person for the ones with prices listed. Those were 2026 figures. Book ahead in the first and last weeks.

At a mosque or shrine

Many people simply break their fast at a mosque. The Sunehri Mosque in Kashmiri Bazaar, built in 1753, fills completely in Ramadan, and traders there share iftar at their shops and in the mosque, per Arab News. Visit as a respectful observer, dress modestly and don't block the rows. See our Sunehri Masjid guide.

Planning a day in Ramadan

  1. Morning to early afternoon: sights that need daylight, such as the Badshahi Mosque or the Walled City gates, because the crowds are thinner.
  2. Late afternoon: rest, or head to the old city early to choose a table before iftar.
  3. Break your fast at the time of the azan, not before.
  4. After iftar: stroll the food streets and bazaars, which run late into the night.
  5. Sehri: some restaurants open before dawn for sehri; ask your hotel which ones are worth it, and note that not all stay open all month.

Who is Ramadan Lahore for?

It suits visitors who like evening food culture and don't mind a slower day. It is a poor fit if you want a packed sightseeing schedule from 9 am, or if daytime restaurant access matters, for example for young children who are not fasting.

Around Eid, transport and hotels fill up. Our experiences page lists other events through the year.
