Bagh-e-Naran is a large public park in Phase 1 of Hayatabad, on the western side of Peshawar, near Tatara Park. It has a mini zoo, a children's playground, a walking track and, according to visitor listings, a small boating lake. Listings give entry as about PKR 20 per person and opening hours from around 8 am into the evening, but the figures differ between sources, so treat them as a guide and ask at the gate.
It is one of the easier places in Peshawar to take children, and it is well away from the old city's crowds. This guide sets out what is inside, the figures we found and how reliable they are, and who it suits.

What is inside Bagh-e-Naran?
The park is one of the largest gardens in Hayatabad. Listings and local reports mention:
- A mini zoo with monkeys, deer, zebras, Nile cows and some birds
- A children's playground and swings
- A walking track, opened to the public after a provincial directive in 2023
- A boating lake and a miniature golf course, on visitor listings
- A food area and an artificial waterfall
In December 2022 the provincial government announced an extension project worth PKR 535 million, which was to add jogging and cycling tracks, an open-air gym and more play areas. We could not confirm which parts have been completed, so check what is open when you arrive.
Timings
Sources disagree. One gives 8 am to 8 pm, another 8 am to 10 pm, and a third opens as early as 5:30 am. Individual attractions are said to run shorter hours: the boating lake roughly 10 am to 6 pm, the mini golf roughly 9 am to 7 pm, and the zoo 9 am to 5 pm. Government parks change hours with the season, and they are often closed for maintenance or events. Plan for a mid-morning to late afternoon visit, which fits every listing, and confirm at the gate.
Entry fee and other costs
Listings quote entry at about PKR 20 per person. For the extras, they give about PKR 50 for adults and PKR 25 for children at the mini zoo, about PKR 200 an hour for the boating lake and about PKR 100 a game for the mini golf. These are undated aggregator figures and may be out of date, so carry small notes, treat the total as a rough budget, and pay whatever is posted.
Best time to go

How to get there
Bagh-e-Naran is in Hayatabad, a planned residential area in the west of Peshawar, on Habib Jalib Road in Phase 1. From the cantonment or the old city, take a taxi or ride-hailing car and ask for "Bagh-e-Naran, Hayatabad Phase 1". Any Hayatabad driver knows Tatara Park, which is nearby. We have no verified journey time, and traffic in Peshawar varies a lot, so allow generous time.
Is it safe to visit?
The UK government advises against all travel to Peshawar. In 2026 there have been serious attacks on police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including in September at Kohat. Foreign-passport holders should check their own government's advice, since travelling against it can void insurance.
