Getting to Prospect Point
The road up from Ziarat town is a paved hill road, and most visitors simply drive it in a private car or a hired taxi. It's a manageable climb for an ordinary vehicle outside winter, and hotels and guesthouses in Ziarat can usually arrange a car for the return trip if you don't have your own.
Walking up is possible for anyone reasonably fit and short on car options, though the 6 km climb gains real height and is more comfortable done slowly, with water, than rushed. Most families with young children or older relatives drive.
What you actually see
At the top, the ground opens out and the town falls away below. The main view is across the Koshki valley towards Khilafat Peak, which rises to about 3,487 metres and dominates the skyline on a clear day. There's a small rest area near the viewpoint where people stop for tea or a packed lunch.
It's a view rather than a destination with much to do once you're there, which is exactly its appeal for a short trip: no ticket, no long walk, just a wide, quiet outlook over the valley.
Sunset at Prospect Point
Late afternoon is the best time to go. The light softens across the valley and the peak catches colour as the sun drops, and the air cools quickly once the sun is behind the ridge, so bring a jacket even if the day has been warm. Aim to arrive with at least 30 to 40 minutes of daylight left and allow time to drive back down before it's fully dark, since the road has no lighting.
Winter access
Ziarat sits high enough that snow and ice regularly close the higher roads out of town in winter, and Prospect Point's access road is one of them. The Quetta–Ziarat road itself has been blocked by heavy snowfall in past winters, stranding vehicles on the approach, so a side road like this one is not something to count on between December and February. If you're visiting for the snow itself rather than the view, ask locally in Ziarat before setting out, since conditions change day to day.
Combining it with the Residency
Prospect Point pairs naturally with the Quaid-e-Azam Residency, the building where Muhammad Ali Jinnah spent his final weeks, since both sit within a short drive of central Ziarat and together make an easy half-day.
