Las Danna is a high ridge stop in Bagh District, Azad Kashmir, about 15 km from Bagh town on a paved road, and one of the district's easier viewpoints to reach. It works well as a half-day out from Bagh, or as the point where you branch off towards Toli Pir or Forward Kahuta if you have a full day and the right vehicle.

Getting there from Bagh
The road from Bagh to Las Danna is metalled for the full 15 km, which makes this one of the more straightforward short trips in the district; an ordinary car manages it without difficulty in normal conditions. The road climbs steadily out of Bagh through forest, gaining a substantial amount of height over a relatively short distance, so allow 40 minutes to an hour for the drive even though the distance looks short on a map.

Las Danna is a viewpoint and rest stop rather than a town: pine forest, open ground with views across the surrounding ridges towards the wider Pir Panjal range, and a tourist rest house for anyone who wants to stay rather than just pass through. There's no significant bazaar here, so bring what you need from Bagh, including food and water if you're planning to spend the day.
Where the roads go from here
Las Danna is as much a junction as a destination. From the main stop, three roads branch off:
- Towards Mahmood Gali and Palangi, continuing deeper into the district's forested hill country.
- Towards Haji Pir and Aliabad, heading in the direction of the historic Haji Pir Pass area.
- Towards Abbaspur and Hajira, a longer route further south.
A separate jeep track also connects Las Danna towards Toli Pir, the well-known viewpoint above Rawalakot, though this track is unpaved, seasonal, and only realistically usable in summer with a suitable 4x4. Don't attempt it in an ordinary car or outside the June to September window.

For most visitors, Las Danna is a stop of an hour or two: enough time to take in the view, stretch your legs among the pines, and have a tea break before continuing. It's not a place that needs a full day unless you're using it as the start of the Toli Pir jeep route or a longer loop through the district's back roads, in which case build in a full day and confirm the jeep track's condition locally before setting out.
What to bring
There's little to buy at Las Danna itself beyond basic tea and snacks if a stall happens to be open, so bring water and any food you'll want for the stop from Bagh. A light jacket is worth having even in summer, since the altitude keeps the air noticeably cooler than in Bagh town below, and the wind picks up in open ground away from the trees. If you're continuing on the Toli Pir jeep track, treat that as a separate, longer outing requiring its own preparation: fuel, water and a vehicle suited to an unpaved seasonal track.
Is it safe to visit this area?
Azad Kashmir saw serious unrest in 2026, with Joint Awami Action Committee protests from June leaving over 50 dead by some rights groups' counts and causing long communications shutdowns; the AJK government asked tourists to stay away for a period. The UK currently advises against all but essential travel to most of Azad Kashmir. Bagh District, where Las Danna sits, is not on the Line of Control itself, but check current UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office advice and recent local news before you travel, particularly if your route continues towards Haji Pir or Haveli.
