Mansehra has a short list of proper hotels: Hotel One Mansehra at the motorway service area, the resort-style Hidden Hills on the N-35, the hilltop Husnain Resort, a handful of mid-range city hotels such as Khan Continental, and simpler guesthouses in the bazaar. Rooms on booking sites start at roughly PKR 5,000 in the quiet months and run to PKR 15,000 or more in summer. Most travellers stay one night here only to break the drive to Kaghan or Naran, and that is where Mansehra works best.

This guide covers where the hotels are, what each kind of stay suits, what you can expect to pay, and when it is smarter to sleep in Abbottabad, Balakot or Naran instead.

Where to stay in Mansehra

Mansehra stretches along the N-35 and the old Karakoram Highway, with the motorway interchange a few kilometres away. Where you sleep decides how long the next morning takes.

  • At the motorway. Hotel One Mansehra sits in the M-15 Mansehra service area on the Hazara Expressway. It is a small property of about 21 rooms that opened in 2025 and is part of a chain of hotels along the motorway. It suits a night when you want to arrive late, eat, sleep and be back on the road without driving through the town.
  • On the N-35 outside the centre. Hidden Hills Hotel & Resort is on the N-35 and is the most resort-like place in the area, with lodges and villas, a restaurant and a children's play area. On Booking.com it was rated 9.1 out of 10 from 48 reviews at the time of writing, and it is the dearest of the lot.
  • In and around the town. Khan Continental Hotel & Restaurant is a mid-range option for a night in town. Reviews for the smaller ones are few, so read recent comments before you commit.
  • On a hilltop. Husnain Resort is a small hilltop place listed with panoramic views of the city and only a handful of rooms, so book ahead.

Names and ratings change, so treat this as a starting point, not a recommendation to the room. We have not stayed at these places and cannot vouch for service on a given night.

How much do hotels in Mansehra cost?

Booking sites show a wide spread. Entry-level rooms start from around US$17 to 20 a night, or roughly PKR 5,000 to 5,600, in the quiet months of September to November. In the high season from June to August, one site averages around US$59, about PKR 16,500. Hidden Hills, at the top end, was listed from about £57 (roughly PKR 21,000) a night on Booking.com.

Three things move prices more than anything else:

  1. The month. Summer and Eid weekends push rates up, because families heading to Kaghan fill the rooms.
  2. Whether breakfast and taxes are included. Check the final total, not the first price you see.
  3. How you book. Smaller hotels often take phone bookings and do not appear in the apps, so you may find lower rates by calling.

Mansehra or somewhere else?

Mansehra is a practical stop, not a destination in itself. Our places to visit in Mansehra guide covers the Ashoka rock edicts and the tea gardens at Shinkiari, which fit in a half day, but most people are in Mansehra to get to the valley.

If you are going to Naran or Kaghan

The motorway is fast as far as Mansehra and the valley road beyond it is slower. If you want a full day in the mountains, sleeping closer helps. Our hotels in Balakot and hotels in Naran guides cover those, and the Kaghan Valley guide shows how the valley is laid out.

If you are coming from Islamabad

The drive is short enough that a stop in Mansehra is a choice, not a need, with about two to two and a half hours of motorway to Mansehra. If you leave early, you can reach Naran the same day. Mansehra makes sense if you are arriving late, travelling with young children or older parents, or if the monsoon forecast is bad and you want to see what the road looks like in the morning. Our Hazara Motorway guide covers the road itself.

If you prefer a larger town

Abbottabad has many more hotels and restaurants and sits before Mansehra on the way. Our hotels in Abbottabad guide covers it.

Is Mansehra safe to stay in?

Mansehra is on the route north, and Pakistani families pass through it all summer. The UK government advises against all travel on the Karakoram Highway between Mansehra and Chilas, which means the stretch north of the town through Battagram, Besham and Dasu. Mansehra is where that stretch begins, and the Balakot road to Kaghan and Naran leaves the KKH here rather than following it.

Check local news and police advice before you travel, particularly after heavy rain, and avoid driving the hill roads after dark. Overseas visitors should read their own government's advice, which may say not to go and can affect insurance.

Booking tips

  • Book ahead for Eid and weekends in June to August. Rooms are limited, and booking sites list only a handful of properties.
  • Ask about parking and generators. Ask whether the hotel has backup power, which matters if the grid fails.
  • Check the room before you pay if you are booking by phone with a smaller hotel.
  • Confirm check-in time if you are arriving late at night.
