A three-day Gwadar trip from Karachi costs a family of four roughly PKR 50,000 to 100,000 for transport and hotels if you drive, about PKR 66,000 to 76,000 for a group package, and well over PKR 200,000 in air fares alone if you fly. Food and spending money come on top of each. These are ranges built from fuel prices and listings seen in 2026, not quotes, and they move with petrol, season and how early you book.
This post gives the budget for a family on a three-day trip. For the whole Karachi to Gwadar and back route, including stops at Kund Malir and Ormara, see our Makran Coastal Highway trip cost, and for the drive itself see Karachi to Gwadar by road.

What does the trip cost if you drive your own car?
Fuel is the big item. The Makran Coastal Highway (N-10) is 653 km long, and with the roads in and out of Karachi most drivers should plan on 650 to 700 km each way. Petrol was PKR 390.66 a litre on 2 October 2026 after the latest fortnightly revision, and it will have changed by the time you read this.
At 12 to 14 km a litre, a sedan covering about 1,350 km round trip burns roughly 95 to 115 litres. That is about PKR 37,000 to 45,000 in petrol. A thirsty SUV will cost more, and you should add a margin for the local running around Gwadar. Split between four people it is manageable, but it is the cost that is hardest to avoid.
The rest of a three-day budget is nights. A realistic plan is to leave early on day one, reach Gwadar by evening, spend day two in town and drive back on day three. That is two nights in Gwadar.
What do hotels in Gwadar cost?
Rates vary a great deal between the cheapest and the top end, and winter is the busy season.
- Basic hotels on or near Marine Drive: listings show single rooms from around PKR 5,000 and triples from around PKR 6,000 with breakfast, and a three-star resort from about PKR 7,000 including tax. These are starting prices, not what a family room will cost in a busy week.
- Mid-range: other resort-style properties sit between the two. Ask for the price of a family room or two rooms rather than relying on the starting rate.
- Zaver Pearl Continental: the town's top hotel, from about PKR 19,000 plus 15% tax a night on its published rates.
For two nights, expect anything from about PKR 12,000 for the cheapest rooms to PKR 45,000 or more at the top hotel. Our Gwadar hotels guide lists the options in more detail. In the busy winter months, book ahead, and confirm the rate and what the room includes before you travel.
What do operator packages cost?
Several Karachi operators run a weekend trip to Gwadar on the Makran Coastal Highway. Listings we read in 2026 show:
- Two-day weekend departures at about PKR 16,500 to 19,000 per person, depending on whether you share a room with three others or with one other person. A typical itinerary leaves Karachi on a Friday night and returns on Sunday night.
- Three-day, two-night trips at around PKR 18,000 per person, or about PKR 21,000 per couple, on coach-style transport.
- Longer trips that add Kund Malir and Ormara up to about PKR 25,000 per person.
Operators generally include coach transport, a hotel room, some or all meals and a tour manager. They exclude insurance and personal spending. A family of four sharing a room on a PKR 16,500 package pays about PKR 66,000, and on the PKR 19,000 double-room rate about PKR 76,000.
Packages are cheaper than driving once you count fuel and rooms, and you do not need to drive 1,300 km. The trade-off is that you follow a group schedule and spend long hours on the coach. For more on what to check before you pay, see our post on Gwadar tour packages.
What does flying cost?
Pakistan International Airlines flies Karachi to Gwadar, and booking sites list one-way fares from about PKR 25,000 and return fares from about PKR 49,000 per person. For four people that is roughly PKR 100,000 one way or just under PKR 200,000 return, before baggage, hotels and a car. It suits a short trip, but it is by far the most expensive way for a family. See Karachi to Gwadar by flight for schedules and what to expect on arrival.
Which option makes sense for a family?
| Option | Roughly, for four people | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Own car, budget rooms | PKR 50,000 to 60,000 for fuel and two nights | Families with a confident driver who want their own schedule |
| Own car, top hotel | PKR 80,000 to 100,000 or more | Families who want comfort and can drive the distance |
| Group package | About PKR 66,000 to 76,000 | Families who want someone else to organise it |
| Flying | PKR 200,000 or more in fares alone | Those short of time and not of budget |
These totals leave out food and spending money, which depend on you. We have no reliable published figure for meals, so budget for it separately, and carry enough cash for the road.
Costs people forget
- Extra nights on the road. Many families stop at Kund Malir or Ormara on the way, which adds a night.
- Water, snacks and fuel for the car's air conditioning on a long coastal drive.
- Local transport and small payments around town, which add up over two days.
- Peak-season prices. Hotel rates and packages rise at Eid, over the winter holidays and on long weekends.
Is the trip safe for a family?
Pakistani families do make this trip, mostly in winter, and the town centre, beach and old town are open to visitors. It is still in Balochistan, where the UK government advises against all travel, and the province has seen repeated attacks since 2024, including on the Gwadar Port Authority complex in March 2024. Check local news and current police advice before you leave, carry your original CNIC, and check the current rules on night travel before you plan a late departure; our post on the Balochistan night travel ban explains what applied when we last looked. Overseas visitors should know that their government's advice may say not to go and that it can void travel insurance.
