PSL 2027, the twelfth Pakistan Super League (HBL PSL 12), will be played from Thursday 18 March to Sunday 2 May 2027 with the same eight teams as 2026. The PCB confirmed the window on 8 October 2026. As of 19 October it had not announced the match schedule, the host cities, ticket prices or the date of the player auction, so anything more specific you read now is a guess.
What you can do now is understand how the season will probably run and plan around it. This guide sets out what is confirmed, what happened in 2026 when the league was cut to two cities at four days' notice, how tickets were sold and priced last season, and how we would plan a trip to a match without losing money if the plan changes again.

When is PSL 2027, and what is still unannounced?
The window was agreed after a PSL Governing Council meeting with all eight franchises in London on 1 September 2026, and announced by the PCB on 8 October (APP, Geo, Express Tribune). CricTracker reported that the council could not agree, so the PCB emailed a preference poll to the franchises and a majority chose March to May over January and February. The reasons given were winter fog in Punjab, which affects Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi, and the wish to keep knockout matches out of Ramadan.
At about six and a half weeks, the 2027 window is a week longer than 2026's, which ran from 26 March to 3 May with 44 matches. The PCB has listed the steps still to come as direct signings, player retentions, a trade window and the player auction, followed by the schedule, venues and ticketing. None had a date by mid-October.
The calendar around the season matters for anyone planning travel:
| Date (2027) | What happens | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| About 8 Feb to 8 March | Ramadan (estimated) | The season starts after it, as in 2026 |
| About 9 or 10 March | Eid ul Fitr, depending on the moon | Eid travel will be over before the first match |
| Thursday 18 March | PSL 12 starts | First match not yet fixed |
| Tuesday 23 March | Pakistan Day holiday | Expect a bigger crowd if a match falls on it |
| 4 to 11 April | South Asian Games in Pakistan | A second large event in Lahore and Islamabad the same week |
| Saturday 1 May | Labour Day holiday | A public holiday near the end of the window |
| Sunday 2 May | Last day of the window | The likely day of the final, not yet confirmed |
The Ramadan and Eid dates are estimates from the Umm al-Qura calendar; the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee's moon sighting fixes Pakistan's dates. The South Asian Games dates are the Foreign Office's, announced on 5 September 2026 (Arab News); Nepal's Olympic Committee gave 3 to 11 April, so the opening day may still move.
The IPL is likely to overlap again. Indian reports say IPL officials want to run it from about 10 March to 15 May 2027, but that is a proposal, not a schedule. For spectators it mainly affects which overseas players turn up, since some withdrew from PSL contracts for IPL ones in 2026.
Which eight teams are playing?
All eight franchises from 2026 return. Hyderabad Kingsmen and Rawalpindiz joined last season, when the league grew from six teams to eight, and Hyderabad reached the final at the first attempt.
| Team | Home city | Home ground | Has the ground staged PSL cricket? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lahore Qalandars | Lahore | Gaddafi Stadium | Yes, including the last two finals |
| Karachi Kings | Karachi | National Bank Stadium | Yes |
| Islamabad United | Islamabad | Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium | Yes, in Rawalpindi |
| Rawalpindiz | Rawalpindi | Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium | Yes |
| Multan Sultans | Multan | Multan Cricket Stadium | Yes, though not in 2026 |
| Peshawar Zalmi | Peshawar | Imran Khan Cricket Stadium (Arbab Niaz) | Not yet; its 2026 match was moved |
| Quetta Gladiators | Quetta | Bugti Stadium | No |
| Hyderabad Kingsmen | Hyderabad | Niaz Stadium | No |
Islamabad has no international cricket ground of its own, so Islamabad United play in Rawalpindi, which now has two home teams. Quetta and Hyderabad have never hosted a league match; the original 2026 plan did not include them, and the Kingsmen played their games elsewhere. Peshawar Zalmi beat the Kingsmen by five wickets in the 2026 final at Gaddafi Stadium on 3 May, in front of a record PSL crowd of 32,461.
Which cities will host PSL 12 matches?
The PCB's 8 October release named no venues. The best guide to what it might do is the 2026 season, which shows both the plan and how quickly it can change.
| Ground | Matches in the original 2026 plan | What actually happened |
|---|---|---|
| Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore | 15, including the final | Hosted matches, Eliminators and the final |
| Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium | 11, including the Qualifier | Lost all its matches |
| Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad | 7 | Lost all its matches |
| National Bank Stadium, Karachi | 6 | Hosted matches and the Qualifier |
| Multan Cricket Stadium | 4 | Lost all its matches |
| Imran Khan Cricket Stadium, Peshawar | 1, on 28 March | Moved to Lahore |
The six-venue plan was published on 11 March 2026 (The News). Tickets went on sale on 17 March. On 22 March, four days before the start, the PCB and the government moved the whole season to Lahore and Karachi and closed the gates to save fuel during the Iran war. Fans who had bought tickets were promised refunds. Spectators were let back in only for the three playoffs and the final, after the Prime Minister approved it on the franchises' request.
The year before was disrupted too. In May 2025 a match at Rawalpindi was called off after an Indian drone strike near the ground during the India-Pakistan conflict, the league was suspended, and it finished in Lahore on 25 May. Two seasons running, the venue plan has changed after fans had made arrangements.
For 2027, three things are worth watching:
- Whether Rawalpindi, Multan and Faisalabad return. Nothing has been said. Rawalpindi now has two home teams and staged Pakistan's international matches with crowds in October 2026, which makes it a strong candidate, but that is our reading, not an announcement.
- Lahore during the South Asian Games. Lahore is listed as a host city for the Games from 4 to 11 April. Wikipedia's venue list puts the Games' cricket at Gaddafi Stadium, but we found no official confirmation, and nobody has said how the PCB will fit PSL matches around it.
- Peshawar. Its renovated ground still waits for a first PSL match. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been under an emergency and governor's rule since 11 October 2026, which we cover in our guide to the KP emergency, and the UK advises against all travel to Peshawar.
How are PSL tickets sold, and what did they cost in 2026?
PSL 12 prices will be set match by match when the schedule is out. Last season's process is the one to expect:
- The schedule comes first. In 2026 it was published about two weeks before the opening match.
- Online sales open on the PCB's portal, pcb.tcs.com.pk. In 2026 this was 17 March at noon, nine days before the start.
- Physical tickets follow at designated TCS Express Centres, from 24 March last season. For the final, the gap was one day: online at 4 pm on 27 April, then 18 centres in Lahore from 10 am on 28 April.
- Big matches are sold separately. Playoff and final tickets went on sale only a few days before each game.
This is what the PCB announced for 2026, before the league stage was moved:
| Match or ground (2026) | Cheapest ticket | Top public price |
|---|---|---|
| League games, Lahore and Karachi | PKR 250 general | Gallery and boxes priced higher |
| League games, Faisalabad | PKR 300 general | Not used |
| League games, Multan and Rawalpindi | PKR 400 general | Not used |
| League game, Peshawar | PKR 1,500 (afternoon premium) | PKR 6,000 VVIP Gallery; family zone PKR 2,000 |
| Qualifier, Karachi | PKR 500, every enclosure | PKR 500 |
| Final, Lahore | PKR 1,500 general | PKR 12,000 PCB Gallery |
The final's middle bands were PKR 2,000 for first-class, PKR 4,000 for premium, PKR 6,000 for VIP, PKR 8,000 for VVIP and PKR 10,000 for the Zaheer Abbas enclosure (The News). League tickets are cheap; playoffs and finals are where prices rise. Our guides to Gaddafi Stadium and National Stadium Karachi explain each ground's enclosures and parking.
Buy only from the portal or a TCS centre. When the 2026 league stage went behind closed doors, refunds were promised to official buyers; a ticket from a social media seller or a tout carries no such promise and may not scan.
Can you buy tickets at the gate, and what are the entry rules?
There is no general walk-up counter at a PSL match. The nearest thing was last season's Qualifier in Karachi, where e-tickets went on sale the night before and paper tickets were sold on the morning of the match at the TCS Express Centre on China Ground, opposite the stadium (ProPakistani). Plan to buy in advance.
Carry your original CNIC, not a photocopy. Tickets for big matches in Pakistan have been tied to identity cards since at least the 2017 PSL final in Lahore, when every buyer had to produce an original card. Foreign visitors should carry their passport.
The PCB publishes the list of banned items with each sale, and we could not find the 2026 list in full, so read the terms on your ticket. The safe approach is to arrive with only a phone, wallet, CNIC and ticket, and to leave bags, food, drinks and chargers behind. Expect more than one search between the road and your seat.
Security is heavy at every PSL venue, with large police deployments, cordons and roads closed or diverted around the ground. City traffic police usually publish a parking and diversion plan before big matches. Our Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium guide and Multan Cricket Stadium guide cover how earlier plans worked at those grounds.
How should you plan a trip around a match?
Start times are not out for 2027. In the revised 2026 schedule, evening matches started at 7 pm and the first game of a double-header at 2:30 pm (Wisden). A T20 usually lasts about three and a half hours, so an evening game finishes around 10:30 pm, and getting out of the cordon adds more.
The weather changes a great deal across seven weeks. These are average daily highs (1991 to 2020 normals, NOAA and PMD via Wikipedia; Rawalpindi from Climate-Data.org):
| City | March | April | May |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lahore | 27.5°C | 34.2°C | 38.9°C |
| Multan | 28.7°C | 35.8°C | 40.9°C |
| Karachi | 32.6°C | 35.0°C | 35.7°C, humid |
| Rawalpindi | 24.5°C | 30.5°C | 36.0°C |
A March evening game in Rawalpindi or Lahore is comfortable. A 2:30 pm start in Multan or Lahore in late April is a long afternoon in full sun, so wear a cap, choose a shaded enclosure if the stadium plan shows one, and give children an evening game instead.
How we would book:
- Wait for the schedule before booking anything you cannot cancel. Two seasons in a row, venues changed after tickets or travel had been bought.
- Choose refundable hotels and flexible transport until the match is close. If you drive, a cancelled game costs you nothing but fuel.
- Book early for a Lahore match between 4 and 11 April. The South Asian Games bring more than 6,000 athletes and officials to Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar that week.
- Plan the journey home before you go in. Late finishes, road closures and surge pricing on ride-hailing apps are normal. Agree a meeting point outside the cordon, because a phone with no charger may be dead by 11 pm.
- For the final, keep the next day free. The 2026 final had a reserve day, and a delayed finish can push travel to the morning after.
In 2026 the government let fans into the playoffs on condition that they used public transport or kept fuel use down. Whether any such condition applies in 2027 depends on fuel supply, so check the PCB's announcement for your match.
Is PSL 12 worth travelling for, and is it safe?
For anyone living in a host city, a league game is good value: PKR 250 to 400 for a general seat in 2026, a full evening of cricket and one of the best crowds in the sport. The final is the event of the season, but it costs several times more, sells out, and in 2026 went on sale only six days before the match.
Travelling to another city for a league game makes most sense where the ground is close to things worth seeing. Lahore and Karachi suit a weekend built around a match, and our experiences page has ideas for the days between games. Travelling for a single league match in a city you have never visited makes less sense until the schedule has held for a week or two.
On safety, Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Multan, Faisalabad and Hyderabad are not named in the UK's Pakistan travel advice, last updated on 13 October 2026, though it asks visitors to take care around crowds and rallies in cities. Peshawar and all of Balochistan, including Quetta, are on its list of places to avoid entirely. Pakistani fans attend PSL matches in large numbers, and the heavy policing is what keeps the grounds open. If Peshawar is given matches in 2027, check local news and police advice the day before; foreign visitors should know that travelling against their government's advice can void travel insurance.
