Lahore Airport to City: Taxi, Ride-Hailing and Bus Options

Allama Iqbal International Airport is about 15 km from central Lahore, and the ride to the city takes 15 to 30 minutes in light traffic and an hour or more in the rush. The easiest ways in are a ride-hailing app (Yango or inDrive), a licensed taxi with the price agreed first, or a hotel transfer. Uber and Careem no longer operate in Pakistan.

We have left out fixed fares on purpose. We could not find a reliable 2026 fare list for the airport, and app prices move with demand. The rest of this guide covers the options, what to check and how to avoid the common arrival mistakes.

How far is the airport from the main areas?

Distances vary by destination. Gulberg and Davis Road are around 15 km, and DHA is 10 to 20 km depending on the phase. The Walled City, Lahore Fort and the railway station are on the far side of the centre, so expect a longer, slower ride there than to Gulberg. Time matters more than distance in Lahore: an evening ride can take double the daytime time.

Option 1: ride-hailing apps

Yango and inDrive operate at the airport. Careem ended its Pakistan ride-hailing service in July 2025, and Uber is not available. Bykea, the motorbike and ride app, is the cheapest option but a poor one with luggage.

• Yango shows an upfront fare before you book.
• inDrive lets you propose a price and the driver accepts or counters.

You need mobile data to use either. If you land without a local SIM, connect to the airport Wi-Fi to book, or buy a SIM before leaving the terminal. Check the number plate against the app before you get in.

Option 2: licensed taxi

Licensed taxis wait outside arrivals day and night. Many do not use meters, so agree the total in rupees before you set off, and confirm whether it includes the toll. Have small notes, because drivers often claim not to have change.

Option 3: hotel or private transfer

Many mid-range and higher hotels arrange a pick-up if you message ahead, and private transfer companies offer fixed prices. This costs more than an app, but it suits late arrivals, families with young children and first-time visitors. Give your flight number so the driver can track delays. Option 4: public bus

One source lists two Speedo feeder routes to the airport: Route 28 from Quaid-e-Azam Interchange and Route 30 from Daroghawala. We could not verify fares, timings or how well they suit luggage, and public transport was described as not luggage-friendly. Most arriving visitors are better off with a car. Tips for arrival

1. Order the ride inside the terminal, then meet the driver at the pick-up point they name.
2. Screenshot your destination address in case of a dropped connection.

4. Carry rupees. International cards do not always work in airport ATMs.
5. Don't accept offers from touts inside the terminal. Go to the taxi rank or use your app.

Which option suits whom?

For most solo travellers and couples, a ride-hailing app is the best balance of price and simplicity. For a family with heavy luggage, a hotel or pre-booked transfer removes the haggle. Backpackers on a tight budget can try the Speedo buses, but should check the route first with staff at the airport or a local.
