Karachi in Ramadan runs on a different clock. The days are quiet, with many restaurants opening late or only for iftar, and the city comes alive after sunset and stays awake until sehri. The busiest iftar streets are Burns Road in Saddar and the food streets of Old Karachi, and for late-night sehri the favourites are Boat Basin, Hussainabad and Kharadar.

When is Ramadan in Karachi?
Ramadan moves about ten or eleven days earlier each year. Astronomical forecasts place the 2027 start on Monday 8 February, with Pakistan likely a day later on 9 February, and Eid al-Fitr on 9 or 10 March. These are projections, and the final call is made by the moon-sighting committee the evening before the first fast. Do not book non-refundable travel on a fixed date until it is announced.

A list published in March 2026 by Brandsynario named these sehri areas and their late-night hours. The hours are from that article and may change:
- Boat Basin, Clifton: about midnight to 5:15 am, with desi and Western options
- Hussainabad Food Street: about 1:00 to 5:15 am, known for biryani and specialty dishes
- Kharadar Food Street: about 2:00 to 5:00 am, with traditional Old Karachi food
- Dhoraji Food Street: about 1:30 to 4:45 am, with Memoni-style cooking
- Maskan Food Street, Gulshan: about 1:30 to 5:00 am, popular with students
- Creek Walk, DHA Phase 8: about midnight to 4:30 am, a seaside setting
- Super Highway: about 11 pm to 4:30 am, for mutton dishes
Sehri means a late night. If you are not fasting, you can go for the atmosphere and eat at whichever hour suits you.
What is open in Ramadan, and what changes?
- Restaurants: Many open late morning or only near iftar, and some stay open all night. Ask ahead, since hours differ from place to place.
- Offices and shops: Working hours are usually shortened and start later. Plan business for the morning.

- Eating in public in the daytime: Be considerate. Eat in restaurants that are open, or in your hotel, and avoid eating or drinking openly in the street out of respect for people who are fasting.
How to plan a visit
- Do sightseeing in the morning. Traffic is lighter and attractions are quieter before noon.
- Rest in the afternoon. The city is slow, and you will want to be fresh for the evening.
- Be at your iftar spot early. Get there 45 to 60 minutes before sunset to get a table, and avoid driving in the last half hour before iftar, when everyone rushes home.
- Go for sehri late. The busiest hours are around 2 to 4 am.
