Beach rides at Clifton
Handlers walk horses and camels along the wet sand near the water's edge. You climb up, the handler leads or walks beside you for a short stretch, and you come back. It is a ride in the sense of a photograph and a few minutes in the saddle, not a canter along the surf.
Prices are not fixed. One travel site, updated in 2026, gives PKR 200 to 500 a round for horses and lower for weekday short rides; traveller reviews on Tripadvisor have mentioned lower figures, around PKR 100. Treat any number as a starting point for haggling. Prices change, and they rise on busy evenings and holidays.
Before you mount:
- Agree the price and the route first, and pay at the end, not the start.
- Ask how long the ride lasts so that "one round" means the same thing to both of you.
- Look at the horse. A thin, sore-looking or badly saddled animal is a reason to walk away.
- Keep children in front of you or ask the handler to walk beside them, and don't hand over a phone or bag to be held by a stranger.
The busiest hours are weekend evenings. If you want quieter sand and fewer handlers competing, go in the early morning.
