Honeymoon Places in KPK, Ranked by Season and Budget

The best honeymoon places in KPK, for most couples, are Nathia Gali and the Galiyat, Shogran and Siri Paye, and Naran with Lake Saiful Muluk, followed by Malam Jabba for a luxury hotel in the snow, Thandiani for quiet, and Kumrat for couples who like camping. Which one suits you depends mostly on the month: Naran and Kumrat are open only in summer, while the Galiyat and Malam Jabba are the choices for a winter honeymoon. Budget matters less than you might think, because every region has something from a camping pod to a comfortable hotel.

The seven best honeymoon places in KPK, ranked

Most couples want a comfortable room with a view, short drives, some privacy and one or two beautiful things to do together. So the ranking puts comfort and ease of travel above adventure, and it weighs the current security picture, which is why some of the province's most beautiful places sit lower than they would have a few years ago.

1. Nathia Gali and the Galiyat

The Galiyat win because they work in every season and are only two to two and a half hours from Islamabad, so you spend your honeymoon there rather than on the road. The ridge between Murree and Abbottabad has pine forest, cool nights in summer, and in a good winter enough snow to make a snowy weekend without the long drive to Swat. The forest walks, such as the level Pipeline Track from Dunga Gali to Ayubia, are gentle enough to do hand in hand.

The choice of rooms runs from simple guesthouses to the DoubleTree by Hilton Nathiagali, which opened in August 2025 as Hilton's first hotel in Pakistan. The drawback is people: weekends and Eid bring heavy traffic on the ridge road, so go midweek, and pick a hotel a little away from Nathia Gali bazaar. 2. Shogran and Siri Paye

Shogran is a plateau at about 2,360 metres above the lower Kaghan valley, with hotels looking across to Malika Parbat and the meadows of Siri Paye above, reached by jeep. It is quieter than Naran, greener, and it has enough hotels to give you a choice without the Naran bazaar crowds. Two nights here make a calm honeymoon on their own, or a first stop before Naran. 3. Naran and Lake Saiful Muluk

Naran is the classic Pakistani honeymoon for good reason: Lake Saiful Muluk at 3,224 metres, Lulusar Lake beside the Babusar road, the Kunhar river and the high pass beyond. It is open only from about June to September, and the valley is crowded in July, August and at Eid. Go in June or September if you can, and stay a little outside the main bazaar. 4. Malam Jabba

If you want a luxury honeymoon with skiing, Malam Jabba is the place. The Pearl-Continental Malam Jabba stands at the ski slopes, about 40 km above Saidu Sharif, and in winter you can ski, snowboard or simply watch the snow from the room. Lower in the valley, the Swat Serena in Saidu Sharif, a heritage building that once belonged to the Wali of Swat, makes a good first or last night.

5. Thandiani

Thandiani, at about 2,750 metres and some 37 km beyond Abbottabad, is for couples who want the Galiyat's forest without its crowds. There are few rooms, and the government's camping pods here are a simple, cheap and memorable choice if you book them early. It is not a place for luxury, and heavy winter snow can block the road for days.

6. Kumrat

Kumrat, at the head of the Panjkora in Upper Dir, is a long valley of deodar forest and a cold river, with wooden huts and tented camps under the trees. It suits couples who like camping, don't need a signal and are happy with a rough road beyond Thal. It is open roughly from June to September, and it sits in a district with serious security advisories at present.

7. Chitral and the Kalash valleys

Chitral and the Kalash valleys are among the most memorable places in Pakistan, but the drive is 10 to 12 hours through Dir and the Lowari tunnel, which is a lot for a honeymoon of a week or less. They also carry the strongest travel warnings of anywhere on this list, and suit couples who travel slowly.

Which place suits which season?

• Winter, December to February: Malam Jabba for skiing; the Galiyat for snow close to home, with rooms up to five-star level. Naran, Kumrat and the high valleys are closed.
• Spring, March to May: the Galiyat, and Shogran from May. Naran is still closed.
• Summer, June to August: Naran, Shogran, Kumrat and the Galiyat, all busy at Eid.
• Autumn, September to November: September is the sweet spot for Naran and Shogran; the Galiyat stay pleasant into November.

Honeymoon budgets in KPK

Rather than print hotel rates that change every season, it helps to think in three levels:

• Budget: government camping pods at Thandiani or Sharan, which the tourism department quoted at about PKR 3,500 to 5,000 a night in 2025, plus simple guesthouses in the Galiyat and huts in Kumrat. See our guide to KP camping pods.
• Mid-range: hotels in Nathia Gali, Shogran and Naran. In 2025 private hotel rooms in KP's tourist areas were quoted at roughly PKR 7,000 to 20,000 a night, rising at Eid and on weekends.
• Luxury: the DoubleTree by Hilton in Nathia Gali, the Pearl-Continental at Malam Jabba and the Swat Serena. Check rates directly, and ask about winter packages.

Practical tips for couples

• Avoid Eid week if you want privacy; rooms double in price and the roads jam.
• Book the room before you set off, especially in winter, when a snow closure can leave you with nowhere to stay.
• Carry both CNICs. Hotels register guests at check-in. There is no rule that couples must show a marriage certificate to enter any valley; when that claim went round social media in September 2025, Mansehra police called it false. Some couples still keep a photo of their nikahnama on their phone in case a small hotel asks.
• Keep the drives short. Two nights in one place beats five hotels in five days.
• Think about altitude at Saiful Muluk and above; walk slowly, drink water, and come down if either of you feels unwell.

Is it safe for a honeymoon?

The Galiyat, Thandiani, Shogran and Naran are in Abbottabad and Mansehra districts, which are not among the areas the UK government's travel advice warns against, and they see very large numbers of Pakistani couples every year.

Swat, Dir and Chitral are different. The UK government advises against all travel to Swat, Upper and Lower Dir, the road to Chitral and the Kalash valleys. On 2 August 2026 a suicide bomber killed 17 people at a peace rally in Kabal, across the river from Mingora, and in August 2026 there were clashes between police and militants in Upper Dir. Pakistani couples still honeymoon in Swat, but check local news and police advice before you go and travel in daylight. Overseas visitors should know that their government's advice may say not to go, and that it can void travel insurance.
