Getting there: fuel or bus
Driving
Rawalakot is about 110 to 120 km from Islamabad via Kahuta and the Azad Pattan bridge, a round trip of around 220 to 240 km before you add the 18 km each way out to Banjosa and back. A mid-size car doing roughly 10 km to the litre on these hill roads uses somewhere around 20 to 24 litres for the Islamabad–Rawalakot leg alone; add another few litres for a trip out to Banjosa and Toli Pir. At about PKR 389 a litre in late September 2026, that puts total fuel for the weekend at roughly PKR 8,000 to 10,000 for a mid-size car, more for a larger vehicle or an SUV. Petrol prices are revised every two weeks, so check the current rate before working out your own figure.
There are no motorway tolls on this route once you leave Islamabad, since the Kahuta and Azad Pattan roads are ordinary highway, not a tolled motorway.
By bus or van
Coaches and vans for Rawalakot run from the Pir Wadhai bus terminal in Rawalpindi.
