Murree weather by month runs from freezing, snowy winters (December to February) through a mild, wet spring, a hot and heavily monsoonal July and August, and a dry, clear autumn from late September to November. Two things stand out. July and August between them bring roughly half the year's rain. And November is the driest month of all, which is why the short window from late September to November is the one people who know Murree well tend to pick.
January and February: cold, and the snow months
Days average 8 to 10 °C, nights fall below freezing, and this is when Murree gets its snow. How much falls varies hugely from year to year and even week to week; some winters are almost dry, others bring feet of snow in a single spell. Pack: a proper winter coat, gloves, a hat, waterproof boots and thermal layers. Roads can ice over, especially in the evening.
March: still winter, wetter than it looks
March is one of the wetter months on the chart, and snow can still fall into it in a colder year. The cold hangs on longer than the calendar suggests, with daytime highs only around 13 °C and nights close to freezing.
Pack: as for winter, plus a waterproof layer for the rain.
April: spring arrives
By April the days have warmed to around 19 °C, the forest is turning green, and rain still falls in regular showers rather than the winter's longer spells. Evenings are cool enough for a jacket.
Pack: layers you can add and remove through the day, and something waterproof.
May and June: the most comfortable months
This is Murree at its best for comfort: warm days in the low to mid 20s, cool nights, and rainfall dropping to its lowest point of the year in May before picking up again in June as the monsoon approaches. July and August: the monsoon
July is by far the wettest month of the year, with August close behind. Expect afternoon and evening downpours, cloud sitting in the valley for hours, and days when the view from Kashmir Point or Pindi Point disappears entirely. Fog is at its worst in this period, particularly on the drive down in the evening, and heavy rain brings landslides on the smaller link roads.
Pack: a proper raincoat rather than just an umbrella, waterproof shoes, and a plan to be off the roads before dark.
September to November: the dry, clear stretch
Once the monsoon clears in September, Murree has its best weather for walking and views. October and November are the driest and clearest months on the table, and this is when the outlooks from Kashmir Point and Pindi Point are sharpest. Nights get cold by November, close to freezing, and the days shorten.
Pack: warm layers for morning and evening, lighter clothes for midday, and a jacket that cuts the wind at the viewpoints.
December: the turn into winter
December sits between the dry autumn and the snow months. Rain and the first snow spells can arrive from late in the month, days average around 11 °C, and nights are close to freezing.

Fog: when it is worst, and why it matters
Fog forms in Murree in two different situations, and both affect driving more than sightseeing:
- Monsoon evenings, July and August. Cloud rolls up from the valleys most afternoons and can sit until well after dark.
- Winter cloud and snow spells, December to February. Low cloud and falling snow both cut visibility sharply on the Expressway and the old road.
