Which area of Sukkur should you stay in?
Central Sukkur. Most budget guesthouses cluster in the city centre and near landmarks such as the barrage and the railway station, according to Tripadvisor's listing. This is the best choice if you arrive by train or bus late, want to walk to food, or plan to see the barrage and Lansdowne Bridge. It is also the busiest and noisiest part.
The university and newer-housing side. Hotel One University Sukkur, opposite IBA Gate 2 in the Pak Memon Housing Society, is one example of a newer, quieter hotel. It suits a car traveller who wants easy parking and a calmer street.
Rohri and the bypass. Rohri is on the far side of the Indus from Sukkur, and at least one lodging, Palm's Valley, is listed on the Rohri bypass near a coach stop. This can save time if you are heading straight out on the highway in the morning. Leaving Sukkur by the bypass avoids the city traffic.
