What kinds of hotels are there in Madyan?
Madyan is a small bazaar town, and its downtown has little polish. Accommodation is mostly family hotels and guest houses, a few with a restaurant, and a few properties that call themselves resorts. Bahrain and Kalam, further north, have more upmarket choices.
Listings in September 2026 named budget places such as Bismillah Seven Star Hotel & Restaurant (about PKR 1,500 a night), Kamal Hotel (about PKR 1,200) and Aaram Baagh Resort (about PKR 2,200), and mid-range places such as Atlantic View Hotel (about PKR 2,500), Hotel Skyways & Restaurant (about PKR 2,750) and Emarat Plaza Hotel & Family Apartments (about PKR 3,175). Those figures are aggregator averages, not quotes.
On Booking.com the standout is Askari Inn Hotels, a four-star property with a mountain view at about US$18 a night. Check current reviews, because the number of them is small.
What do they cost?
Use the table above as a guide only. Rates rise at weekends, on Eid and in June and again in autumn, and a walk-in price in a quiet week can be lower than the listing. Booking sites quote in dollars, so the PKR figures for those are converted and rough.

Why stay in Madyan, and why not?
Reasons to stay:
- It is a natural stopping point between Mingora and Kalam, at about the halfway mark.

How to choose a room in Madyan
- Ask how far the building is from the river. Buildings on the bank were badly hit in the 2022 floods, and the river can rise quickly after rain.
- Check the road access. Some hotels sit on steep lanes off the main road.
- Confirm heating if you go in winter, and ask how the room is heated.
- Confirm parking, if you are driving your own car.
- Ask for the total price with tax and breakfast.
Is it safe to stay in Madyan?
Pakistani families still travel through Madyan on the way to Kalam, and the hotels are open. However, on 2 August 2026 a suicide bomber attacked the Kabal police station in Swat during a peace rally, killing 17 people, and as of September 2026 the UK government advises against all travel to Swat.
