Moon Market is a large neighbourhood market in Allama Iqbal Town, in south-west Lahore, with hundreds of shops, food stalls, restaurants and a parking building. It is best known for clothes, shoes, bangles, cosmetics and cheap accessories, and for eating in the evening. Most shops open around noon and stay open until about 9 to 11 pm, and no source we found gives a fixed weekly closing day.
Note that Lahore has more than one "Moon Market". The best known is in Allama Iqbal Town, and there is a second in Gulshan-e-Ravi. Check the area before you set the destination in a ride app.

Timings and weekly closing
Timings vary by source. One listing gives noon to 9 pm every day, another says most shops open around 11 am and close by 11 pm, with food stalls busy later. There is no single official schedule. We found no evidence of a market-wide weekly holiday, though individual shops may open late or shut on some days.
Lahore has also changed its official market closing times on and off during 2026, most recently extending hours to 10 pm in May. Rules like this change with little notice, so if you are going late, check local news or call a shop first.
What to buy
- Clothes and lawn suits. The market sells ready-made clothes, unstitched suits and seasonal winter wear, at lower prices than the big brand malls.
- Bangles, cosmetics and accessories. Artificial jewellery, bangles and imported beauty products are widely reported. We could not verify a strong bridal or fine jewellery trade here, so for gold, go to a dedicated jeweller you trust, and check any weight and purity claim on paper.
- Shoes and household goods. Found in the back sections.
- Mobile phones. Some shops sell phones and repair them. If buying one, check its PTA status first: dial *#06# to get the IMEI, then SMS it to 8484. Our Hafeez Centre guide explains the checks.
Bargaining
Bargaining is normal at small shops, and ask for the price twice. One guide suggests starting 20 to 30 per cent below the asking price. Treat that as a starting point, not a rule. Fixed-price stores, such as branded outlets, do not bargain. Compare a few shops, look at stitching and fabric, and ask about exchange terms before paying.
Food

The multi-storey parking plaza, completed in March 2016, holds about 400 vehicles and 500 motorbikes, and some floors are used for shops. Ride-hailing is the easiest option from central Lahore. Safety
Crowded fabric lanes attract pickpockets, and phone snatching is a wider issue in Lahore. Keep your phone and wallet in zipped pockets, carry only the cash you expect to spend, and stay out of quiet side streets late at night.
Planning a visit
Go in the late afternoon, when most shops are open and the heat has eased, and stay on for food. Decide beforehand what you are buying, since the market is large and the lanes look alike. Take a phone with a charged battery for navigation, agree a meeting point if you are in a group, and book your ride home from the parking plaza or main road rather than from a side lane. Eid and wedding seasons are the busiest times, and the crowds then are heavy enough that a weekday visit is better.
Is it worth visiting as a visitor?
It is a local market, not a sightseeing stop, and it is a long way from the Walled City and Gulberg. It suits people who want everyday shopping and an evening meal.
