Gujranwala has a small number of proper, well-reviewed hotels, and most of them are branded properties on or near GT Road rather than old guesthouses in the walled city. Hotel One Gujranwala and Avari Boutique Gujranwala are the two most recently reviewed upper-mid options, Rachna Pearl is a smaller boutique-style alternative, and below them is a long tail of local hotels that vary a lot. Expect roughly US$45 to 80 a night for the better ones in 2026, which is about PKR 12,500 to 22,500 at around PKR 280 to the dollar.
Gujranwala is a working industrial city, not a sightseeing base, so this guide is about choosing sensibly: where the hotels are, what each tier offers, and whether you should sleep here at all.

Where are the hotels in Gujranwala?
Almost all the reliable hotels are strung along the GT Road corridor and the industrial estate on the Wazirabad side of the city. That puts them near the main road, malls and the motorway link, and a fair way from the old city.
- Hotel One Gujranwala lists its address as 16-A GT Road, in the Sixteenth Avenue Mall complex, Industrial Estate, Kot Mergulla.
- Avari Boutique Gujranwala is on the Main GT Road at the Mall of Gujranwala, in Fattu Mand. It is a recent property: booking sites describe it as opening in 2024, with 52 rooms.
- Rachna Pearl Hotel is on Wazirabad Road near the Aziz Cross flyover, also in Industrial Estate 1. Tripadvisor lists 43 rooms.
Sheranwala Bagh and the haveli of Maharaja Ranjit Singh are in the old walled part of the city. If you want to see them, you will be driving in from the hotel belt, so a hotel "near Sheranwala Bagh" is not really on offer. Our guide to places to visit in Gujranwala covers what is in the old city.
Upper-mid hotels
These are the ones to look at first if you want a predictable room.
Hotel One Gujranwala is part of the Hotel One group run by the Pearl-Continental chain. Its own site lists deluxe king and twin rooms and an executive suite, free Wi-Fi, parking, a continental breakfast, an on-site restaurant, 24-hour room service and meeting space. It gives distances of about 45 km to Sialkot airport and about 80 km to Lahore airport. Tripadvisor lists it from about US$63 a night.
Avari Boutique Gujranwala is a four-star property from the established Avari group, with a restaurant, lounge and terrace. Tripadvisor listed it from about US$81 a night in 2026. Because it is new, there are few reviews, so read the latest ones before booking.
Rachna Pearl Hotel is smaller, with a restaurant, café, parking and room service, and Tripadvisor shows standard rooms at about US$73 to 77. It also has very few reviews.
All three have few published reviews, which says more about Gujranwala's low tourist traffic than about quality. Confirm the price and what is included directly with the hotel before you pay, since online rates move with the season and with wedding dates.
Mid-range and budget options
Beyond those three, Tripadvisor lists around two dozen properties in the city, including Mughal Mahal Hotel, Marian Hotel, Aleena Hotel and Best Western Hotel City Center. Listings start around US$10 a night, and the seasonal average on the same site is roughly US$40 to 44. We could not verify the current condition of most of these, so treat names as a starting list, not a recommendation.
When choosing a budget hotel:
- Look for recent photographs and reviews from the past year, not the past decade.
- Ask whether the rate includes tax, breakfast and generator backup. Gujranwala has load-shedding like the rest of Punjab.
- Check that the hotel is on a main road and has parking, if you are driving.
- Families should confirm hotel policy on check-in documents in advance. Our Lahore accommodation guide covers the general approach.
Should you stay in Gujranwala at all?
Honestly, for most visitors, no. Gujranwala is about 100 km from Lahore, an hour and a half on GT Road, and the city's main draws are its food and a few old-city sites that can be done in a day. Our guide to Gujranwala's famous food is the better reason to come, and it is a lunch and an afternoon, not a weekend.
Staying here makes sense in three cases:
- You have business or a wedding in the city.
- You are breaking the journey on the way to Sialkot, Gujrat or Wazirabad and do not want to drive on at night. Our Lahore to Sialkot guide describes that route.
- You want an early start the next morning from this side of Lahore.
If you are visiting for sightseeing, a hotel in Lahore, with a day trip out, gives you more choice and better restaurants in the evening.
What to expect from a stay
Hotels here are built for business travellers and wedding guests. That means good breakfast service, banquet halls and reliable parking, but limited walking around you. At night the roads near the industrial estate are quiet, and you will use a car or ride-hailing app to get to dinner.
Book ahead if your dates fall in the main wedding months, roughly October to March, when banquet events fill rooms across Punjab. Outside those months a same-week booking is usually straightforward.
